Resurrecting Old Hubs-Oldies but Goodies
62Tonight as I was monitoring the hubtivity on HubPages, I noticed a fellow hubber was recognized with a rather large medal. They had just reached 100,000 page views tonight. I'm always fascinated to know what these hubbers write about to generate that kind of traffic. When I got to their hubs, I found that they had a hub about a topic I found interesting. I read the hub with great interest and just as I was leaving a comment, I noticed that the last comment to this hub was one year ago!
That hit me like a ton of bricks. It suddenly dawned on me that there must be tons of hubs sitting out here on HubPages that are great hubs that we're missing, just like this one. This person has been on HubPages for 2 years (and written over 80 hubs and has over 300 fans) and tonight was the first time our paths crossed.
I'm not saying this hub hasn't been viewed in a year, I'm guessing it probably gets pageviews, but no one has left a comment in a year! I resurrected their hub with my comment tonight. Even if for a moment, it appeared on the Hubtivity screen and hopefully introduced this hubber to people like me that haven't crossed paths with them yet.
My Goldentoad Story
I had written a hub back in November 2008 that never really went anywhere. I had just a few pageviews and no comments. I finally changed the title of the hub and made some remarks about how no one was commenting.
On January 30, 2009, Goldentoad made the first comment. Anyone who knows GT, knows he has like a million fans who watch his every move. Before long I had tons of pageviews and comments to that silly hub. It has forever changed my stats.
It's not all attributable to GT, but I would not be at the same place I am right now if it wasn't for GT.
Thanks, GT aka Goldie Toadie, or officially Goldentoad.
Stop by GT's profile and check out some of his hubs. Don't let the number of hubs confuse you. He's a cantankerous fart and unpublishes them sometimes when he gets in a mood. :)
My Proposal & Suggestion
If you, or someone you know, has a hub that's been sitting out there not getting the attention it needs, leave a comment below giving us the name of the Hubber and a hint what the hub is about.
DO NOT PUBLISH LINKS IN THE COMMENTS BOX. I don't want to violate anyone's TOS....but I would love to know if there are others like the one tonight that I have missed somehow. You can always email me through HubPages as well.
If you're reading a hub and you enjoyed the hub and you notice that no one has commented in a long time (more than a week), do the hubber a favor and leave a comment. Give the hub a chance to resurface on the Hubtivity. I'm sure you'd want others to do that for you as well.
You never know when YOUR comment might just change someone's world.

KCC - you are a busy hubber tonight!! Not sleepy?? GT rocks, IMHO. He was one of my very first commenters.. all he said was "Got any beer?". I fell in like with him from that moment!
wow thats great KCC...100!
Maybe a "Sleepless In Texas" hub?
She could write it, Candie. I don't think the woman ever sleeps!
You put in all the work KCC..... but way to go on making me defrost my heart. I think your best work is when you write about your life and what actually to drew me to read your hubs was your tribute to your son and the courage it took to expose yourself and relive the experiences of the loss. I hope everyone takes the time to read those. You also have a good way of mixing entertainment and information in your hubs, that I think give them a great diversity and a charming personal touch. After this month, I know I have alot of catching up to do, but I'll get there.
I was sleep-typing.
I know there is a wealth of 5 star hubs out there I've never read. I will check back and see what people suggest. Cool idea for a hub.
Worth knowing as a failry new hubber thanks
Excellent idea. My in box is inundated at the moment but I always go through as many as poss and leave comments. As a newbie myself I know what a boost this is.
At the very least, I try to read and comment on a hub by a fellow hubwriter who has been kind enough to leave a comment on one of my hubs. Then, if I have more time, I read others and comment. After this hub challenge (30 in 30 days has ended) we can all breathe a sigh of relief. I have ONE MORE to go!!!!! Yipee!!!!!
I like your idea of resurrecting old and good hubs by commenting.
Good for you and us, KCC! You rock. :)
you're the best!
Had to come back and re-visit this one. Loved it!
