Haunted Good Fun in Waxahachie, Texas
72
Waxahachie is a town located about 30 miles south of Dallas, Texas. If you're ever anywhere near the area, it is worth a visit. On our visits there we have found the following sites to be of particular interest.
The Ellis County Courthouse-the architecture is incredibly interesting. There are dozens of grotesque faces caved into the stone surrounding the building. There are just as many stories about the history of these. The courthouse square reminds you of a scene from "Back to the Future". It is interesting to note that this courthouse square has been used in many movies and commercials. When we were there last they were filming a movie across the street at the Rogers Hotel that they turned into apartments for "The Beacon". According to the IMDB website it is in post production and scheduled to be a 2009 release. It stars Teri Polo, David Rees Snell, Michael Urie, Michael Ironside and Elaine Hendrix. The link is provided below.
The Munsters Mansion-A replica of the house featured in the 1960s television show "The Munsters" can be found just outside Waxahachie. We were able to find the house with little trouble and with just the info found on the web. Meet the owner in the video below. A link to their website is found below as well.
The Catfish Plantation-I first learned of the Catfish Plantation from a book I purchased called, "A Texas Guide to Haunted Restaurants, Taverns and Inns" by Robert Wlodarski and Anne Powell Wlodarski. I've been to the Catfish Plantation Restaurant three times within the last 18 months. Although, I'm certainly open to the idea, I and my family have not yet personally experienced any supernatural activity while there. The food and atmosphere is fantastic. You simply cannot taste all of the goodness in just one visit, although we've tried. Our favorite sides so far are their hushpuppies, the coleslaw, and the onion rings. Our favorite beverage is their cherry limeade. My husband's favorite entrée is the Aloha Chicken. Mine is the catfish and my teenage daughter loves their Southern Fried Chicken. We all love the cobblers.

We had to cancel our trip to Houston this week, which is disappointing because you and another hubber had helped to form my itinerary with your hubs. We were really looking forward to the Munster house. But it remains on our bucket list, and I hope to get to end it before the bucket is "kicked"!! :-))
I love the unexpected "POOFs"!!!
My kids love to watch the Munsters, so they were very excited. This gives them something to look forward to!!
My parents live in Waxahachie and didn't even know the Munster mansion was there. Me and my hubby love the show and found it on an internet search of things to do in Waxahachie. We stopped by and snapped tons of pics. Unfortunately they aren't open for tours until Halloween, so I told Mom and Dad that's where we were going for our trip this year!
The locals have a tendency to ignore this place. The couple that own it are very strange and obsessed. You have to park a mile away and the entry is on a winding road and is very dangerous. There is always a charity twist to it's operation but most complain that the charities get the short end of the stick.
I heard Munster house will be closed this year
Would you please contact me for information on the Haunted House Would like to talk about using in set.
