Best Christmas Lights in Texas for 2012
92In Texas we seem to do everything in a big way. Christmas decorating is no exception.
In 2009, I assembled a list of the best light displays I could find around Texas. I provided links to each one so that viewers could learn more. Thousands of people viewed this information and added these designations to their "Must Do" list for holiday sightseeing around Texas.
It's time to get in on the Christmas 2012 action. You have to begin really early to compete with the best. It's time to stock up on lights and equipment. It's time to organize your event and submit your dates to print and online publications.
If you are planning an awesome Christmas light display in 2012, then please drop me a line and I'd love to add you to my list.
So, pack the kids up and head on out to visit some the great light displays I've assembled below. Before you go, be sure to print out a few of my Christmas Scavenger Hunt lists to entertain the whole carload. Click here to get the list.

Awesome Hub KCC! Texas does have a lot of awesome places for viewing the Christmas lights. I don't recall knowing about 37th Street in Austin, but, I maybe in San Antonio this holiday season and I will definitely have to check it out.
Its really great I always liked Christmas Lights.
Burnet, Texas has Mainstreet Bethlehem which is amazing. It is a complete re-enactment of Bethlehem complete with buildings, soldiers, animals, rope and leather-making, bread-making (which tastes amazing) and more. It is a must-see for anyone in the Hill Country area.
AS my children have grown and left home I make less of Christmas and try to see it for what it really is but the twinkle of lights is something I would never give up for Christmas. It's the magic you never tire of with or without a tree.
Nice Hub, I guess everything is big In Texas (including Christmas light displays)
U Deserve to be a number one position in HUB ..

Great hub! I love holiday lights! This makes me want to book a flight out to Texas.
a cool hub with Christmas light
WOW what an exciting Hub! I love all the pictures and descriptions. We are having a neighborhood light show this year too here in Spring Lake, Michigan. It is called Holiday Road and it's on the web. We just had a party to celebrate it 2 days ago. All the neighbors and friends and families got together for a potluck in the streets. It was surreal to be eating at dusk trying to figure out what was in the 'pot.' After eating we stood in Awe, fingers curled up into our sleeves (it was cold) as Brad turned the light show on and we watched them dance merrily to 20 Christmas songs. It was delightful. Our neighborhood will be packed with visitors this year, but it will be sooooo worth it! Merry Christmas Everyone!
Nice hub. Austin is a great town.
wow nice place... i'll go there...
Thanks KCC, I will consider writing a hub about our Holiday Road. Here is the Link to our HolidayRoad in Spring Lake, Michigan: http://www.holidayroadlights.com/ The festivities officially begin on Thanksgiving night at 6pm. We will have a houseful of family and friends. It will be so much fun to share the lights together.

Love what you did here. I really love going to places with lights display especially during Christmas season.. If only I could go there and visit those places.. Thanks for sharing.. Great Hub! ^^,
I rated you "up" on this one. Being a Texan, I love anything that promotes our state!
There is a neighborhood in Arlington that is quite well known for its Christmas lights. For the life of me, I can't think of that neighborhood. I've never driven over there, because Arlington is just plain hard to drive in, especially at certain times when the Dallas Cowboys are playing in their new stadium.... and also during baseball season when the Rangers play at the Ballpark in Arlington, or whatever is their "name du jour" for that stadium. It keeps changing!
OK, I think it's a Swiss name. Something like Interlaken (I'm guessing!)
these should be so much fun :)
Awesome hub! I live in Arlington and love going to see the Interlochen Lights. I have also been to other of these locations to look at these lights. Its awesome! My neighbor puts up alone 320,000+ lights every year. Its crazy! I will have to write a hub about it, its incredible!
Spectacular information KCC Big Country. I'm always amazed at how much effort some people put into these displays for the rest of us to enjoy as we are passing through.
I really enjoyed your hub.
awesome! how I wish I could be there and watch it myself. But I'm here in the Philippines and I can also see some areas here that are showcasing awesome christmas lights displays.
I maybe posting here also certain places with Christmas filling the air. Great hub!
I have lived in Texas for the last thirty years I did not know there was so many places to go. But the one I always took my son to was the one in Arlington. Years ago it was so beautiful. But I have gone sense and for some reason it don't seem to be the same as it was when my son was small, I was wondering why is it because of the price of electric or what.
I really enjoyed your hub. I agree these are the best Christmas lights in Texas.
Hi dear i really happy to see your hub. I think this is the best Christmas light
Excellent post! I really enjoyed reading it. I will be back for more!
Our family was trying to relocated to Plano Texas a few years ago and made several trips there in October and December. We were really impressed with one neighborhood called "Deerfield" in October all of the homes in this development were decorated with really neat Halloween decorations. We said "Wonder what it's like at Christmas" We returned at Christmas and WOW what a beautiful little neighborhood. We really wanted to relocated there but it didn't work out--still trying tho'.
Great Hub and Merry Christmas!!!
Great Hub. I am a real fan of Christmas lighting. I live in a capital city and the Christmas lights are beautiful. The most memorable Christmas lights I've ever seen were in Salzberg, Austria
There are no such thing in my country, because 90% people in my country don't celebrate christmas. Thanks for the info
Too bad the trail of lights in Austin is possibly CLOSED this year...at least we wills till have 37th street and the Zilker tree to visit. Love your hubs.
Those are amazing displays. I visited a house in Phoenix (quick Youtube video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Qw7wKWCqiI) once that was decorated to the extreme, but having a whole street like that must be awesome to walk through during the holidays!
Superlike
Reading Christmas hubs right now. Christmas must be fun in Texas.

is 37th street still going on?
do you of anyone that was there this year? Do you think it is good?
ok Thankyou very much
The lights which you have mentioned are very innovative in style. I can not wait to try one for myself.
This is a dream. I am always seeking out the best Christmas lights, but I've only stuck to areas near my hometown because I must be home for the holidays (since it's not Christmas unless you're home, right?). I think this is a great idea for a Hub and it's absolutely complete, with the photos and details and great descriptions. Thanks so much KCC.
Concho Christmas Celebration has one of the largest Christmas Light displays. Wth over 3 million lights along a 2.5 mile drive along the Concho River in San Angelo, Texas! Great lights..Thanks for that
You need to include Prestonwood Forest (700+ homes) in suburb of Houston, Texas. Their tradition started 37+ years ago and most of the residents participate. Some of the residents go ALL out. The "wow factor" is definitely present here. Very impressive and enjoyable. A must see!
