America's Best Dance Crew (ABDC)-Season 4-Episode 1 Review
70Meet the Nine Crews on Season 4
The following nine crews were selected from thousands of contestants to appear on Season 4 of America's Best Dance Crew.
- Beat Ya Feet Kings from Washington DC
- Fr3sh from Matawah, New Jersey
- Artistry in Motion from North Hollywood, California
- Afroborikefrom Las Vegas, Nevada
- Rhythm City from Bronx, New York
- Southern Movement from Nashville, Tennessee
- Massive Monkees from Seattle, Washington
- We Are Heroes from Los Angeles, California
- Vogue Evolution from New York, New York
Round 1 of 4 in Episode 1 of Season 4
Round 1 pitted Beat Ya Feet Kings against We Are Heroes and Afroborike.
Of these three crews, Beat Ya Feet Kings impressed me the least, personality-wise. I found them to be a bit too dry and their costumes were unimpressive. I do enjoy their impressive feet action. I'm not sure they can pull off being America's Best Dance Crew though.
We are Heroes are cute, sassy and full of energy. I think they will go far in this competition. They seem to be driven.
Afroborike, is a fun word to say, for one. I think this is the most visually attractive group that I've seen out of all four seasons. They are comprised of 3 men and 3 women and are impressive dancers. However, I think their Salsa dancing style is going to hurt them in this competition. I think they belong in a different dancing platform. I think the girls played up their sexiness a tad too much for the first show.
The judges chose We Are Heroes and Afroborike to automatically move on to next week's competition. Beat Ya Feet Kings were moved to the final round for possible elimination.

Round 2 of 4 in Episode 1 of Season 4
Round 2 pitted Massive Monkees against Artistry in Motion and Southern Movement.
The Massive Monkees seemed to be a well-rounded group with a lot of community support. Their performance was very reminiscent of Super Cr3w's performances. I think they will do well in this competition.
Artistry in Motion is an all female group comprised of women who are trying to demonstrate that all body types are capable of excelling in dancing. I didn't particularly like their routine. I thought their was too much hair and arms flailing about and due to the number in their group, I found it distracting. There was too much to watch. I think they will eventually be eliminated, but I think many women will identify with them and keep them in for a while.
Southern Movement was a surprising group. In their promo, they were wearing non-descriptive jeans and t-shirts looking like any other dance crew. Once on stage, the transformed themselves into dancing cowboys and one cowgirl. I enjoyed their music remix of Dierks Bentley's "Sideways". I was quite impressed with their finger-Tuts and overall varied tempo routine. I'm a huge country music fan, so I have nothing against this country slant on things, but I sincerely hope they lose the cowboy hats for the remainder of their routines.
The panel of judges chose Massive Monkees and Artistry in Motion to automatically move on to next week's competition. Southern Movement was sent to the final round for possible elimination.

Round 3 of 4 in Episode 1 of Season 4
Round 3 pitted Rhythm City against Fr3sh and Vogue Evolution.
Rhythm City probably had the cleanest, most professional-looking routine of the night. I was really impressed with their precision. I think they are going to be a tough team to beat.
Fr3sh probably came across as having the best personalities of all of the crews. They guys and gals are great friends and they enjoy what they do. Their dancing was good and very reminiscent of Kaba Modern and So Real Crew from other seasons.
Vogue Evolution, wow. Where to start with Vogue Evolution? Vogue Evolution is made up a few gay men and one transgender male. I love their strength to be themselves and to they should be applauded for being given the chance to strut their stuff. They performed brilliantly and I think they will go far in the competition. I'm just not sure America is ready for them to be voted "America's Best Dance Crew" though. I think the exposure on national television will do a lot in helping the acceptance of them and their unique style. I think we're in for some great episodes.
The panel of judges chose Rhythm City and Vogue Evolution to automatically move on to next week's competition. Fr3sh was sent to the final round for possible elimination.

Round 4 of 4 in Episode 1 of Season 4-The Sudden Death Face-off
The final round was a sudden death face-off between the three teams that the judges passed over in the first three rounds. They were Beat Ya Feet Kings, Southern Movement and Fr3sh. Each of the nine teams had been given the same music to create their own 30 second routine to in the event they made it to this face-off. Each of these three teams now spent 30 seconds dancing to a remix of the Black-eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow" trying to convince the judges that they had what it takes to be America's Best Dance Crew.
In the dance-off I think all three gave a good performance. I think their routines showcased their talents well and the judges had a tough decision to make.
The judges chose to eliminate Fr3sh and we watched as the first banner fell and they graciously left the stage.
